An unprecedented number of refugees are arriving at our southern border fleeing gang violence and extreme poverty from the Central American countries of El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, know as the Northern Triangle. In addition to advocating for a large and beautiful wall to stop these unfortunate people seeking asylum, the President in all his wisdom, has also suggested eliminating aid the US provides for these countries that tries to alleviate some of the suffering that compels them to make the arduous journey north. That makes sense. Make things even worse and maybe they will decide to stay put. Christy Delafield, (above) interim communications director for Mercy Corps, an NGO with programs on the ground in the Northern Triangle, will join Steve and Lew to describe the scene in those countries and explain the obvious to the President that withholding aid will not prevent immigrants but will have the exact opposite affect with the bonus feature (it seems a bonus for Trump) of causing greater pain for large group of people.
